Hello 2014!

Wow! It has been over a year since I last posted on this here blog! I miss it incredibly! Life has just been pretty hectic over the past year and I have not had as much time to create. Therefore, I had nothing to share and no reason to update.
I am really excited for 2014, though. There are so many exciting events and opportunities that this year will entail and I can't wait to welcome everything with open arms.
So, here's to a new year and all that it has to offer!

fighter squat {the odd balls}

We have a few smart alecs in our family. Nothing wrong with it because it provides plenty of laughs. I'm just stating the facts. ha! So, without fail, we are guaranteed to have cheesy or silly pictures because someone just can't hold back and be normal. This also led to silly photos while on vacation. I knew I needed to scrap this one of my dad because this stance was very fighter-esque (minus the squat).

I'm slowly working my way through using up the Studio Calico Elmwood Park kit. The masculine colors within the kit are perfect for a lot of our vacation pictures because we were in a woodsy area. :)
I embossed the white polka dot stampings. I decided to add them because the page seemed to be missing something & I needed a place to add in my journaling without randomly throwing it into a spot in the middle.

Thanks for looking!

golf course birds.

We took a little weekend getaway this past weekend. And, we decided to drive around a little bit. We came across this golf course & there were tons of geese all around it. They were darling! So happy I was able to grab a few shots!

And, we drove around a little lake where we saw this gorgeous bird. I'm guessing a heron, but not 100% sure. It was beautiful, though! And, kind enough to pose for a picture! haha.

3rd birthday

Our little baby's 3rd birthday was yesterday. It's hard to believe she's three years old now! Crazy! We spoil her so much & her birthday was no exception. She got a lick of icing and a piece of popcorn (foods that we normally don't allow her). And, today I was able to get out to the little pet shop and we bought her an ice cream cookie for puppies. I thought it was adorable and decided it would be a good treat for her birthday! Here are some pictures of her enjoying it... :)

The cookie itself.

Right before presenting her with the birthday treat!

Taking a little whiff before having a nibble.

We love her to pieces and are so blessed to have such a sweetie pie in our lives. Happy 3rd birthday, Madigan!

1D concert.

Just popping in to share one of my recent layouts. I feel like such a bad blogger... a month & a half without a fresh post? What is wrong with me? lol. Well, I'm back now... and hopefully in full force! So here's one of my most recent...

I created this layout using the Studio Calico SoCal kit. I tried mixing patterns here. I think it turned out okay! What a relief. lol. I don't really know how I am with trying to make some bolder statements, but I like experimenting, so I don't really worry too much.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

stud muffin.

I enjoyed playing along with Studio Calico for National Scrapbooking Day.
They had a lot of fun challenges to have a go at. I, amazingly, completed all of the challenges. Here's my entry layout for the Triangles Challenge hosted by Kelly Noel and Davinie Fiero

I used mostly the Studio Calico Story Hour kit for this layout. And, despite having to cut those triangle apart, I'm very happy with the end result. Such a fun challenge!

card abundance.

This past weekend was a crafty whirlwind. I usually don't have much time to scrapbook or make cards, but I had an unusual amount of free time and I capitalized on it! :)
I'm only going to share the cards I finished today. The rest will come later. I have one birthday card and two Mother's Day cards to share.

I have no idea why this one is tilted at an odd angle. I'll have to figure out what I'm messing up in editing. ;)

Again, not quite sure about the weird angles! It's driving me crazy!

We had a lovely Mother's Day here. Was able to celebrate with my mom and my grandmother. And, had a delicious dinner cooked by my dad. How was your Mother's Day?

floral birthday card.

One of my best friend's birthday was this past weekend. Here's the card I whipped up for her...

jbs fountain pen ink | studio calico sentiments stamps | studio calico city of lights kit

I thought the floral paper fit her personality. And, it also had a few purple flowers in it... purple is her favorite color. I simply tied the twine in a bow to mimic a birthday present all tied up. The cardstock with the sentiment stamped on it is pop dotted to add a little dimension.
